Polish Reporter Told To Leave Russia

By RFE/RL's Russian Service

Russia has expelled a Polish journalist days after Warsaw forced a Russian reporter out of the country.

Waclaw Radziwinowicz, the Moscow correspondent for Poland's leading Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper, told RFE/RL on December 18 that Russian authorities had annulled his accreditation and asked him to leave the country within three months.

The move comes days after Polish authorities forced a Russian reporter, Leonid Sviridov, to leave Poland.

On December 12, Sviridov, who writes for RIA Novosti, part of the pro-Kremlin Rossiya Segodnya news service, had to leave Poland after Polish authorities accused him of espionage and annulled his permanent residence permit. RIA Novosti is part of the pro-Kremlin Rossiya Segodnya news service.

The developments take place amid deep tensions between the West and Russia over Moscow's intervention in Ukraine.
