No mention of a political discussion group called "Debout Congo" could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
In correspondence sent to the Research Directorate, one of the sources of information provided in RDC33527.F of 5 January 2000 on "Debout Campus", the president of Journaliste en danger (JED), a non-governmental Congolese organization advocating freedom of the press in the RDC, stated that his organization is not aware of the existence of a political discussion group called "Debout Congolais" (12 Feb. 2001).
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
