A representative of the Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Montreal confirmed that the letter preceding the identity number on the Moroccan National Identity Card is used to identify the province where the national resides (17 March 2003).

No additional information other than that already provided in MAR36228.E of 7 December 2000, MAR36887.E of 7 June 2001 and MAR36888.E of 11 June 2001 on the Moroccan National Identity Card could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
