The processes and procedures to obtain a passport in Tanzania; documents required [TZA38228.E]

According to an official at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania, a first-time passport application requires a completed passport application, a birth certificate, the birth certificate of one of the parents, four photographs of the applicant, and a processing fee (19 Dec. 2001). The application must be submitted to a passport officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs (ibid.; Ministry of Home Affairs 14 Dec. 2001). The passport officer will authenticate the person's identity and claim of citizenship according to birth, descendence or naturalization (ibid.).
