The legal age for applying for a Burundian passport; whether Burundian passports are issued to single persons under the age of 25 (2001-2002) [BDI41502.FE]

During a 29 April 2003 telephone interview, the first secretary at the Embassy of Burundi in Ottawa stated that any Burundian citizen of legal age, which is 18 years in Burundi, can apply for a passport regardless of his or her marital status. The first secretary added that any person who applies for a Burundian passport must, among other things, present an identity card and, where applicable, his or her former passport (Burundi 29 Apr. 2003).
