Afghanistan Attacks Kill At Least 13

Afghan officials say attacks across Afghanistan killed at least 13 people on July 26.

In Kandahar province, Taliban militants killed six police officers, including a district police chief, in assaults on some 15 checkpoints.

Dawa Khan Menapal, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said reinforcements later arrived and the combat continued into the night.

Omer Zwak, a spokesman for the governor of the southern province of Helmand province, said a bomb hidden inside a motorcycle killed four civilians and wounded four in Marjah district.

In Kabul, a bomb blast killed an army officer and wounded his driver, while in Herat province, gunmen on motorcycles shot and killed two army officers in the city of Herat.
