'Turban Bomber' Injures Afghan Lawmaker

Officials say a suicide bomber has wounded an Afghan lawmaker by detonating explosives hidden in his turban.

Hamidullah Tokhi, a lawmaker from Zabul Province who previously served as the province's governor, was injured when the man entered his house in the nation's capital, Kabul, and detonated the bomb.

Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish  said Tokhi was "slightly wounded" and taken to hospital.

Witnesses said at least two other people were injured in the attack.

In 2011, former President Burhanuddin Rabbani, who was the chairman of Afghanistan's High Peace Council, was assassinated by a bomber with explosives packed in his turban who was posing as a Taliban peace envoy.

Last year, Asadullah Khalid, chief of the Afghan spy agency, was badly injured by a suicide bomber who had explosives hidden in his underwear.
