Car Bomb Kills Five North Of Baghdad

Reports from central Iraq say a car bomb apparently targeting a local police chief has killed five civilians and wounded at least 10 other people.
 
Police said Colonel Qandil Khalil survived the attack on April 4 in the town of Dhuluiyah, north of Baghdad.
 
Reports say the bomb exploded near the police chief's vehicle, but he was not harmed. Hospital sources said the five dead were all civilians.
 
It was the second reported attack against Khalil this year, after a car bombing in January.
 
Dhuluiyah is part of the Sunni-majority Salaheddin Governorate.
 
The town was an Al-Qaeda stronghold after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, but government forces regained control with the help of tribal militias.
 
Although violence has dropped significantly in Iraq, militants continue to frequently attack security forces.
