Iranian Court Sentences Man To Death For Physicist's Killing

August 28, 2011
Iran's IRNA news agency has reported that Majid Jamali Fashi was convicted of killing scientist Masoud Ali Mohammadi.

IRNA quoted Iran's Prosecutor-General Gholam Hossein Mohseni as confirming "the sentence to execute Majid Jamali Fashi has been issued."

Iranian authorities claim Fashi was spying for Israel and cooperated with Israel's Mossad spy agency to plant a bicycle with a bomb outside Mohammadi's house last January.

Fashi's trial lasted less than one week. His lawyers have 20 days to launch an appeal.
