Information on the citizenship status of a child born in Kenya in 1935 to ethnic Somalis, who moved with his parents to Mogadishu in 1938, but returned to Kenya in 1977 where he worked for four years under a work visa [KEN27615.E]

In an 8 September 1997 telephone interview, an immigration officer at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, DC, stated that a man born in Kenya of ethnic Somalis in 1935, who moved to Mogadishu in 1938 and returned to Kenya in 1977 under a work permit, does not qualify for Kenyan citizenship unless one of his parents was born in Kenya.
