According to the attached article from the
Dhaka daily The Bangladesh Observer, on 8 October 1995
police arrested Abdul Gaffar Biswas, Jatiya Party (JP) "unit
leader" of Khulna, in connection with the 25 May 1995 killing of
Sheikh Abdul Kashem, former Khulna city unit general secretary (9
Oct. 1995, 1). The attachment reports that Biswas was "later"
jailed (ibid.). His arrest was "condemned" by JP Secretary General
Anwar Hossain Monju (ibid.).
Corroborating information could not be
found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
