Situation of Mandaean community; rise in number of killings, kidnappings and other attacks on Mandaeans in 2005 and 2006; forced conversion to Islam; no "safe havens" for Mandaeans in central and southern Iraq; remaining community is estimated at 5750 persons (of 50 000 in the 1980s); in Kurdish provinces of Suleymania, Erbil and Dohuk it is "extremely difficult" to find jobs or to obtain registration without social networks (expert opinion, in German)
