A 9 December 1997 letter sent to the
Research Directorate by the second secretary of the Embassy of the
Republic of Slovenia in Ottawa states:
The law that regulates civil marriages is
the law of civil marriage and family relations, #SRS 15-644/76.
Unfortunately, I will have to send you the text at a later date.
Foreigners who marry Slovenian citizens do not automatically
acquire permanent residence status in Slovenia. They should apply
for permanent residence at the municipality of their residence.
