For information on the denominations of Sierra Leone banknotes please see the attached document.

Information on the colour of the various banknotes could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB. A representative of the Sierra Leone Cultural Society of Ontario stated that colours and information on the banknotes varies with different governments. As banknotes bear a likeness of the head of state, when there is a change of government, banknotes change accordingly. Further information on this subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa. As a result, banknotes of various vintages may be in circulation simultaneously.
