Information on an alliance between the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) [PAK13903]

According to the Europa World Year Book 1992, prior to the 24 October 1990 elections, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the Tekrit-i-Istiqlal, the Pakistan Muslim League (Chatta Group) and the Nifaz Firqah Jafariya formed an alliance called the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) (1992, 2133). The PDA suffered heavy losses in that election, thereby allowing the Islamic Democratic Alliance (IDA) to double its representation in Parliament to just four seats short of an absolute majority (Ibid., 2133).
