Aba Youth Movement and its involvement in a protest held at the petroleum depot in Osisioma, in the vicinity of Aba between 1 and 9 February 2000; whether the protest resulted in fighting between the Igbos and the Hausas; whether the communal fighting caused great destrcution and whether Hausa soldiers were sent to Aba to restore law and order [NGA36063.E]

No references to a Aba Youth Movement could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Violent clashes occurred in Aba on 28 February 2000 as Igbo youth, who believed that most of the 200 victims of earlier Muslim and Christian confrontations in the northern state of Kaduna were Igbos, sought revenge by attacking Muslim Hausas and setting fire to their property (PANA 29 Feb. 2000; DPA 29 Feb. 2000; AFP 29 Feb. 2000).
