The military draft, including draft age, method of recruitment, and penalties for evasion [MNG33675.E]

On 10 February 2000 an official at the Embassy of Mongolia in Washington, DC stated that Mongolian men are conscripted into the armed forces between the ages of 18 and 25 for a one-year tour of duty. Mongolian men receive their conscription notices through the government of the local administrative unit (sum) where they live. The official did not provide information on penalties for draft evasion.
