The identity of the Mexico City (DF) Attorney General (procurador) in 1997 and 1998; the identity of the head of the Mexico City (DF) Judicial Police (as opposed to the Federal Judicial Police) in 1997 and 1998 [MEX33745.E]


On 28 February 1997 it was reported in the Mexican press that Lorenzo Thomas Torres (Lorenzo Thomas) had been sworn in as the Attorney General of Mexico City, following the 20 February 1997 resignation of his predecessor, José Antonio González Fernández (La Jornada). On 2 December 1997 Lorenzo Thomas was still holding the office of Attorney General (ibid. 2 Dec. 1997). On 5 December 1997 it was reported that a new Attorney General, Samuel del Villar, would take office in the Mexico City government (ibid. 5 Dec. 1997); he reportedly still held that office a year later (ibid. 16 Dec. 1998).
