Information on the right to Croatian citizenship for a Bosnian Croat who is of mixed Croat/Bosniak origin (follow-up to HRV33282.E of 13 December 1999) [HRV34409.E]

On 9 December 1999 an official at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ottawa stated that Croats who were born in and are citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina are entitled to live in Croatia and become Croatian citizens, that such persons are not obliged to renounce their citizenship in Bosnia-Herzegovina in order to exercise those rights, and that all persons of Croatian nationality, wherever they live in the world and wherever they are born, are entitled under Croatian law to become Croatian citizens. On 17 May 1999 the same official stated that the same rights elaborated above would apply to a person of mixed Croat-Bosniak origin who was born and raised in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
