IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
Information on this specific subject is
currently unavailable to the DIRB in Ottawa. However, West
Africa reported in its 24-30 May 1993 issue that workers of the
Universities of Ghana and Cape Coast had been on strike to demand
better working conditions (874). The source noted that the strike
in Cape Coast resulted in the indefinite suspension of the 32nd
Congregation, which was scheduled for 8 May 1993 (ibid.). For
details on this particular strike, please refer to the
attachment.
This response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find attached a list of
other sources consulted in researching this response.
