Information on a June/July press conference held by the ADN party denouncing the discovery of burnt ballot boxes in Santa Cruz [BOL18904.E]

Information on the requested subject could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB. Unspecified problems in Santa Cruz during the June 1993 elections are reported in two of the documents attached to Response to Information Request BOL18903.E of 23 November 1994 (Financial Times 7 June 1993; Latin American Weekly Report 17 June 1993, 265). The latter source mentions "organisational problems" in Santa Cruz, without elaborating.

The other attachments of BOL18903.E provide additional information on the 6 June 1993 elections, although they have no specific references to allegations of fraud in Santa Cruz.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
