Pakistani Woman Found Raped And Hanged From Tree
June 21, 2014
Pakistani police say a 21-year-old woman was raped and hanged from a tree in the eastern Punjab Province.
Police said on June 21 the woman's boyfriend confessed to the rape and murder, and has been taken into custody. Police are looking for two other suspected accomplices.
According to investigators, the woman was raped and strangled to death, and then her body was hanged to make it look like a suicide.
The incident took place in Punjab's Layyah district on June 19, and was reported to the police a day later when local residents saw a woman hanging from a tree.
The case bears a resemblance to an attack in India last month, in which two teenage girls were found gang-raped and hanged from a mango tree in northern Uttar Pradesh state.
