Gunmen Kill Tribal Chief Of Pakistan's Waziristan

Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a prominent pro-government tribal elder designated by authorities as the chief of the volatile North Waziristan Agency.
Pakistani media quote unnamed government sources as saying Malik Qadir Khan, his driver, and a bodyguard were killed in a drive-by shooting in the Chashma Pul area on May 1.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Khan, who belonged to the Madakhel tribe, was among leading tribal elders and represented the tribesmen in various meetings with government officials.
North Waziristan Agency is a tribal area near the Afghan border, where militant training facilities and compounds are said to be located.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, has a strong presence in the area.
