Iraqi Bomb Attacks Kill At Least 13

Iraqi officials say two bomb attacks in the northern town of Tuz Khurmato have killed at least 13 people, including many children.

Some 10 other people were injured in the attacks.

The blasts hit a predominantly Kurdish part of the ethnically mixed city.

Earlier on August 30, an Al-Qaeda-linked group claimed responsibility for a wave of bombings across Baghdad that killed more than 70 people and wounded more than 200.

The so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant said in a statement that Shi'ite neighborhoods across Baghdad were targeted on August 28 as retribution for the recent executions of Sunni Muslims.

On August 19, Iraq's Shi'ite-led government executed 17 people, all but one of them on terrorism-related charges.

The August 28 attacks largely targeted busy streets.
