Afghan Roadside Bombing Kills Eight

At least eight civilians -- mostly women and children -- were killed on November 8 when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan. 

Police said the incident took place on the outskirts of Qalat city, the capital of Zabul Province.

Five women, two children, and an elderly man were killed. They were believed to be from the same family.

Provincial police chief Ghulam Sakhi Roghliwani blamed the Taliban for the attack.

Earlier this week, the bodies of seven people were found on the outskirts of Qalat city.

The men may have been National Afghan Army soldiers who disappeared while traveling from southern Kandahar Province to their homes in neighboring Zabul last week.
