Nationalities Released Of Tourists Killed In Pakistan
June 24, 2013
Pakistani officials have released the nationalities of those who died in a militant attack in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.
Gunmen stormed a base camp at the foot of Nanga Parbat -- Pakistan’s second-highest peak -- late on June 22, shooting dead 10 foreign climbers and a Pakistani guide.
The foreign victims have been identified as an American with dual Chinese citizenship, three Ukrainians, two Slovaks, two others from China, a Lithuanian, and a Nepalese.
A group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the worst attack on foreigners for a decade in Pakistan.
The group said the attack was in retaliation for U.S. drone strikes on Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives.
