Religious Cleric Murdered In Daghestan
March 04, 2013
Unknown assailants have shot dead a teacher at an Islamic school in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Daghestan.
Daghestan's Interior Ministry said on March 4 that Magomed Biyarslanov was found dead with several gunshots in his chest inside his house in the village of Gubden late on March 3.
Investigations have been launched into the apparent murder.
Daghestan has become one of the most volatile republics in Russia's North Caucasus in recent years.
Islamic insurgents professing extreme forms of Islam regularly attack moderate Muslims, police, and officials.
