Whether medically discharged army officers, speficially captains who have been pensioners for more than 10 years, are subject to military call-up (January 2001 - November 2004) [MCD43159.E]

In a 12 November 2004 telephone interview with the Research Directorate, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Macedonia in Ottawa provided the following information. As of this writing, Macedonian law stipulates that one year after their initial discharge for medical reasons, army officers must undergo a second medical examination. If the results remain the same, they are exempted from military call-ups indefinitely.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
