Six Afghan NGO Workers Shot Dead
Six Afghan employees of a French aid agency have been shot dead by suspected Taliban militants in northern Afghanistan.
Ahmad Jawed Bedar, spokesman for the governor of Faryab Province, said the Afghan employees of the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) were killed as they traveled from the city of Maimana to the Almar district.
Bedar said that "Taliban insurgents" stopped the workers' car in Pashtun Kot and shot them. One person was also wounded.
The nongovernmental ACTED released a statement in Paris condemning the killings.
ACTED has 34 reconstruction projects in Afghanistan and employed 864 Afghans last year.
No one has claimed responsibility for the killings.
