Several Policemen Killed In Attacks In Iran

Several police officers have been repotedly killed in attacks in the country's southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan Province.

Iranian media reported the latest attack during the morning of October 9 at least one policeman was killed and several others were injured when a car bomb exploded in the Saravan area.

Hedayatollah Mirmoradi, a member of parliament from Saravan, said an explosive device was planted in a car that police had located and identified as belonging to "bandits."

Police towed the car to an outpost where it exploded.

Late on October 8, an armed group attacked an outpost in the Saravan area killing at least three policemen.

It was unclear who was responsible for the attacks.

Separatists, criminal organizations, and narcotics smugglers are active in the province which borders both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
