Bilal al-Droubi dies two days after being targeted by the Eighth Brigade

Bilal al-Maqdad, nicknamed al-Droubi, died after being targeted with live fire on Thursday by members of the so-called Eighth Brigade in the city of Busra al-Sham, east of Daraa. Members of his family were also injured in the attack.

On Saturday, an agreement was reached between the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the leadership of the Eighth Brigade in Busra al-Sham to hand over those wanted in the al-Droubi assassination case. Two of the three suspects were handed over.

The Eighth Brigade was nothing more than a branch of the intelligence services of the former regime and foreign entities. It committed crimes of murder and arrest, and implemented policies of repression against civilians in Daraa Governorate.

The Syrian authorities are required to dismantle the Eighth Brigade, end its abuse, oppression, and corruption of civilians, apprehend Bilal al-Droubi’s killers, bring them to justice, and arrest anyone proven to have committed crimes and sheltered under the brigade’s forces.
