Information on the treatment of musicians
performing in Amharic could not be found among the sources
consulted by the DIRB.
According to Amnesty International
Report 1995, an Oromo folk-singer was detained following a
demonstration, while Ethiopian authorities "investigated whether
her songs were seditious" (1995, 30). The folk-singer was later
released uncharged after four months of imprisonment (ibid.). For
