Information on Osrat Al-Dyaa, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood at the University of Cairo which held demonstrations against the Faculty of Medicine's policy preventing women who wear Islamic dress from entering the school [EGY13670]

Information specific to Osrat Al-Dyaa is not currently available to the DIRB; however, the attached report from a 1986 issue of The Christian Science Monitor may be of interest to you. According to this report, Islamic militants harrassed Hashem Fouad, the dean of Cairo University's medical school, after he refused to allow a veiled woman to take exams (9 July 1986). The report quotes Fouad as saying that "[Islamic fundamentalists] are the most organized element in Egyptian politics today (Ibid.)".
