IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
For information on the Mandean religion,
please consult the Encyclopedia of Religion, available at
the IRB's documentation centres in Toronto and Ottawa.
According to L'État des
religions dans le monde, there were 6,200 Mandeans in Iran in
1987 (1987, 242).
Information on whether Mandean children
have been taken from their homes and forced to convert to Islam by
the Iranian authorities could not be found among the sources
consulted by the DIRB.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of
additional sources consulted in researching this Response to
Information Request.
