Information on whether a national of Guyana can also be a national of Suriname [SUR11908]

According to an official of the Embassy of Suriname in Washington (16 Oct. 1992), Suriname does not allow dual nationality. This was corroborated by a consular official at the Consul General of Guyana in Toronto who stated that a Guyanese would have to renounce his/her Guyanese nationality in order to become a national of Suriname (26 Oct. 1992).

The DIRB in Ottawa has no further information on this subject at the present time.
