Whether pseudoephedrine and met amphetamines are considered "drugs" under the Penal Code or other law in Jordan [JOR42784.E]

In correspondence to the Research Directorate on 8 July 2004, a professor of international law at al-Yarmouk University in Jordan provided the information that follows. Pseudoephedrine and met amphetamines are both considered drugs in Jordan and are consequently prohibited under a Jordanian law issued in 1988.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
