IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
The town of Bori is in Rivers state
southeast of Port Harcourt (see attached map). In a telephone
interview with the DIRB, a representative of the High Commission of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Ottawa stated that Ijau and
Kalabari are the primary languages spoken in Bori (13 August 1996).
The representative emphasized, however, that other languages such
as Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba could also be spoken in Bori.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
