Information on the killing or disappearance in 1993 of lawyers who were prosecuting military personnel, and possible military responsibility [HND17258.E]

References to the disappearance or killing of lawyers in 1993 who were involved in the prosecution of military personnel could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB. The attached documents provide information on killings and at least one disappearance that occurred in 1993 in which military personnel were suspected of involvement. Like the Country Reports 1993 available at your Regional Documentation Centre, the attached documents do not elaborate on some of the murder victims' profession or on their possible involvement in the prosecution of military personnel, but are included with this response for your reference.

Despite repeated attempts by the DIRB, local and regional human rights organizations in Honduras and Costa Rica could not be contacted in time to meet your deadline. Other organizations contacted by the DIRB were unable to research the subject by the requested deadline.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
