Information on the proposed date for the
launch of a book by Professor Oyin Ogunga could not be found among
the sources consulted by the DIRB.
According to the 1994 annual report of the
Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, which is a pro-democracy
and human rights group based in Lagos, the launch of Tunde
Adeniran's The Politics of Wole Soyinka was scheduled for 3
November 1994 at the Premier Hotel in Ibadan (Committee for the
Defence of Human Rights Mar. 1995, 31). However, the launch was
"aborted" when "anti-riot" police "invaded" the hotel and prevented
organizers and guests from entering (ibid.). For additional
information, please consult the attachment.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of
additional sources consulted in researching this Information
