Information on mandatory retirement age in the army, and on ranks; in particular, whether a colonel is of higher rank than a lieutenant-colonel [ROM10188]

According to the Military Attaché at the Embassy of Romania in Ottawa, the mandatory retirement age in the army in Romania is between 55 and 60 (31 Jan. 1992). The Military Attaché, who himself has the rank of colonel, indicated that a colonel is of higher rank than a lieutenant-colonel in the Romanian army and air force (31 Jan. 1992). This information cannot currently be corroborated by the IRBDC.
