Current treatment of M-19 members (update to COL31011.E of 18 January 1999) [COL36848.E]

Further to COL37059.E of 8 May 2001, no reports of activity of members of the M-19 could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. Although various reports refer to current political figures such as congressman Gustavo Petro as "former members of the M-19," no reference to current (1999-2001) membership or existence of the M-19 could be found among the sources consulted.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
