Whether members or supporters of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) have suffered abuses from authorities during or since the student strike of 1999-2000 due to their support for the striking students [MEX39204.E]

For reports on the arrest and/or prosecution of students during the strike at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1999 and 2000, please refer to MEX37023.FE of 10 May 2001, MEX37445.E of 16 July 2001 and other Responses. For discussion of the political links of the General Strike Command (CGH), including initial participation in the strike by students, teachers and groups with direct or indirect links to the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), please refer to MEX36791.E of 9 May 2001, MEX38341.E of 17 January 2002, and other Responses.

However, no references to PRD affiliation of the CGH members who were arrested and faced charges after the strike could be found among the sources consulted. No reports of PRD members or sympathizers facing abuses since the strike, as a result of their support for the strike, could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
