Information on the current status of the settlement reached in American Baptist Church versus Thornburch [USA10215]

According to a source at the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in Washington, D.C., it is now too late for Guatemalans and Salvadorans to apply for benefits under the settlement reached in American Baptist Church versus Thornburch, unless an individual has received a letter from the INS indicating that his/her documents were not in order at the time of original application (7 Feb. 1992). Guatemalans had to apply for these benefits by 31 December 1991, and Salvadorans had to apply by 31 October 1991 (Ibid.).

There is no further information currently available to the IRBDC on this topic.
