Document #1192245
IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
Please find attached some articles that
report on the aftermath of the 4 January 1996 demonstration by
fishermen referred to in Response to Information Request CHL25536.E
of 23 December 1996. However, references to fishermen being
arrested in their homes after the demonstration could not be found
among the sources consulted by the DIRB.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
