Information on Faduma Ahmed 'Alim' is
scarce among the sources consulted by the DIRB. Somali radio
reported in 1980 that a Faduma Ahmad Alim was a deputy minister in
the department of culture and higher education; no additional
information on her is provided by the source (Mogadishu Radio 7
Feb. 1980). In 1987 a Fadhuman Ahmad 'ali is named by Somali radio
as the deputy minister of education (Mogadishu Domestic Service 2
Feb. 1987). A 1993 Oxfam report lists a Faduma Mohamed Aalin as a
participant at a 5-6 September 1993 workshop on peace and conflict
in Hargeisa (Bradbury Oct. 1993, 125). The same document identifies
Aalin as a teacher, but provides no additional information on her
(ibid.).
Information on whether Faduma Ahmed 'Alim'
was a member of parliament or was married to Ahmed Mohamoud Farah
could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.
Information on the current whereabouts of
Ahmed Mohamoud Farah could not be found among the sources consulted
by the DIRB. However, the attached documents from Africa
Confidential, Africa Research Bulletin, Africa Contemporary Record,
Political Handbook of the World 1987, Reuters and Somali radio
reports provide information on the government positions held by a
Colonel Ahmed Mohamoud Farah, (also spelled Colonel Ahmad Mahmud
Farah, Colonel Ahmad Mahmujd Farah, Colonel Ahmed Mahmud Farah,
Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Farah, Ahmed Mohamed Farah, and Ahmed
Mohammad Farah).
Please note that the spelling of Somali
names is not consistent in the literature, and that each of the
spellings used in this Response reflect the original spelling found
in the cited sources.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of
additional sources consulted in researching this Information
Request.
