Information on the current status of the Workers Party (Partido de los Trabajadores) [PRY15659.E]

Neither The Political Parties of the World 1988 (1988, 430-435) nor The Political Handbook of the World 1991 (1992, 597-600), list the Partido de los Trabajadores (Workers Party) among the political parties of Paraguay. However, according to The Latin American Weekly Report of 8 April 1993, the Partido de los Trabajadoes is reportedly one of the seven political parties that registered candidates for the presidential and vice-presidential elections which were scheduled to take place on 9 May 1993. Additional information on this subject could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
