Information on any demonstrations staged by
the Medical and Health Workers' Union is scarce among the sources
consulted by the Research Directorate.
Only the attached 2 February 1993 Xinhua
report states that a strike was organized by five workers unions in
the health sector to "press for an extension of a 45 percent
interim salary increase to health workers.".
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any
particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the
list of sources consulted in researching this Information
Request.
