IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
Current information on the Rally of
Republicans (RDR) is scarce among the sources consulted by the
Research Directorate.
In a 3 July 1995 Reuters article, the RDR
is described as part of the centrist opposition. According to
Reuters, the party was formed by Democratic Party dissidents (29
Dec. 1996). However, the same source does not specify the date of
its foundation. Some sources indicate that Djeny Kobina is the
leader of the RDR (Reuters 28 Oct. 1996; ibid., 3 July 1995; La
Lettre du Continent 31 July 1997). Zemogo Fofana is cited as
national secretary of the party (ibid.)
Information on whether the RDR issues
memberships cards could not be found among the sources consulted by
the Research Directorate.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any
particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
