According to a report by the Inter-NGO
Committee for Somalia (April 1991),
One group which was very vulnerable in the south does not appear to
be so in the north. These are the families from Darod group of
clans who are still living in the northern towns. These are small
in number and many of those who have remained are linked to Isaaq
families by marriage. However further attention needs to be given
to this group, and others such as Hawiye in Hargeisa (4).
Further information on this subject is
currently unavailable to the IRBDC in Ottawa.
