The Dainik Sabuj Desh newspaper and its coverage of the disappearance of BNP politician Nurul Islam in September 2000, specifically whether he was identified as being murdered, and if so, by whom (September 2000-2002) [BGD38644.E]

According to information obtained from the Media Telephone Guide prepared by the Press Information Department of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and received from an associate of the Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM), the chairman of the editorial board of the Dainik Sabuj Desh is a Mr. A.K.M.A. Mustaque, and the editor of the newspaper is a Mr. A.K.M.A. Khaleque (HRCBM 27 Mar. 2002). The Dainik Sabuj Desh, which is published in Dhaka, is not affiliated with any particular ethnic or religious group (ibid.), and is described as being "not popular in Bangladesh" with a "very small" circulation (ibid. 28 Mar. 2002).

In September 2002, the name of SKM Mustaq appeared as the editor of the Dainik Sabuj Desh in a list of editors of Bangladesh dailies (Bangla2000 7 Sept. 2000).
